In The Latest Entertainment News Of Kim Cattrall
“Sex and the City” star Kim Cattrall will shake up HBO Max’s “And Just Like That” series by reprising her role of the popular Samantha Jones, per Variety.
Set to air during the season two finale, Cattrall will appear in only one scene. Her character was mentioned during the show’s first episode as residing in London. While she won’t be seen with her former costars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, or Kristin Davis, she’s been communicating via telephone.
The beloved character’s dialogue was recorded on March 22 and will be heard during a phone conversation with Carrie Bradshaw (Parker). During the first season, Bradshaw and Jones exchanged texts with an interest in seeing each other and repairing their relationship.
While Cattrall’s reps didn’t respond as to whether her story will continue, her popularity remains. Based on fan polls of likability, Jones was by far ahead of lead character, Bradshaw, as she was more relatable and less contrived.
Back in 2016, the Emmy-winning actress admitted that she was hanging up her Samantha Jones shoes because she didn’t think a script for the third film required her.
“I would have preferred for all of us to have some kind of event to warrant a third film,” she told Variety in 2022. “That didn’t happen.”
Her public feud with Parker led to the actress saying, “I think [Parker] could have been nicer” during an interview with Piers Morgan. When HBO Max revived the popular sitcom under a new name, Cattrall was not asked back. The show was met with mixed reviews and had fill-in characters due to the absence of her character.
Casey Bloys, the chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, convinced Cattrall to come back to much delight of the show’s fanbase.
