Ray Stevenson has died at the age of 58.
The Northern Irish actor, most known for his roles in King Arthur, Punisher, RRR and Thor, died in Italy on Sunday, just days before his 59th birthday.
His reps confirmed the news to multiple outlets, but did not share the cause of his death.
The Lisburn-born star developed his passion for acting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and made his movie debut in 1998 flick The Theory of Flight, appearing opposite Helena Bonham Carter.
He went on to land a significant role as Dagonet in 2004’s King Arthur, before leading the way in Outpost, four years later.
That same year, Stevenson had the starring role of vigilante Frank Castle in the Punisher reboot, Punisher: War Zone, alongside Wayne Knight, Dominic West and Colin Salmon.
In 2011, he made his debut in the Thor franchise as Volstagg, a member of the Warriors Three, who served as the superhero’s closest friends.
Idris Elba, Rene Russo, Anthony Hopkins and Jaimie Alexander also made up the cast alongside Chris Hemsworth.
He reprised his role in the 2013 sequel, The Dark World, and once more in 2017’s Ragnarok.
